Relationship and the same:
- Both allow students to participate and progress in the curriculum and meet the standards
- Both give students the opportunity to access FAPE
How they the different?
- Accommodations are documented strategies that have been found to be provide students equal access to the curriculum
- AIM is provided after a determination of need for materials that are more effective for students to access the curriculum
- AIM has to do specific materials (operative word)
- Accommodations are not only materials, but also deal with environment, and the student supports needed to help the student access the curriculum
They can be a subset of the other, if they both assist the student to participate and progress in the curriculum.
